Thanks Everybody!
Today, Saturday June 19, is Pantry's last day of operation as a cafe and store.
Our reason for closing is simple: we just need to spend more time with our kids.
Between retail, cafe service, private dining and catering - not to mention the various side projects with which we were involved even before Pantry existed - it was a lot of work. More work, as it turned out, than we could manage right now.
Pantry was founded as a family business, but unfortunately and ironically, it was really taking its toll on our family unit. Liz and I had a bit of an epiphany one day as we raced from a Saturday catering delivery to pick up our kids from day care, looked at our watches and realized it was almost 9pm.
Again.
At that point, we knew what we had to do. At least for now.
We think Pantry will be back as a store someday, in some capacity. And we'll definitely keep on with some catering here and there.
But for now, we're gonna put our feet up, slack off a bit, and try to get back to a more reasonable work schedule - say, 10 or 12 hours a day... :)
